It put out around 430hp/490lb-ft on the dyno, and it’s in a car that should finish up around 3000lbs, so yeah. Owner got it started yesterday... says traction just “wasn’t happening” :)

The thing is though, the CFI seems to have been deliberately throttled back. The intake runners are tiny, around 1/2" smaller than the intake ports on the head. 185hp out of that was doing pfg.

I’ve never actually fiddled with a CFI intake before. That just seems really stupid not to at least match the runners to the ports. Why bottleneck it if you don't have to? Why? Because 80's GM. lol

The theory is that GM would be bringing out TPI shortly, and as it wasn’t 100% sorted out they wanted to limit CFI to stop it from stealing the thunder. Of course they succeeded far too well and many people immediately switched back to ordinary carbs.

And that should read 1/2", not 1.2" btw. Apparently you can fat-finger a full size keyboard too. Edited now

Didn’t TBI come between CFI and TPI though? I know my 88 S10 had TBI on it. I kind of wanted to rip it off and just put a carb on it (funny you should mention that). I could never get that quite right either, I was always chasing some type of vacuum leak.
